As many of you know Apple has just updated their famous line of cat themed operating systems to Mac OS X 10.8 “Mountain Lion.” The update brings a load of new features and Mac-to-iDevice integration. After setting up the showroom systems with the Mountain Lion update we decided to play around with some of the most anticipated new features of the OS.
I personally could not wait to get my hands on the new AirPlay-to-Apple TV feature. This has been the final piece to my new media room setup as it allows me to stream anything I see on my Mac’s display right onto my TV screen through the use of my Apple TV. I have recently upgraded my wireless network to the Airport Extreme Router to accommodate high speed wireless display streaming and I am happy to report everything works perfectly. I have been spending most of my night editing pictures in Adobe Lightroom 4 on my 15″ MacBook Pro connected through Apple TV to my 42″ LG HDTV and my workflow is running great. I love being able to comfortably sit in my living room and view my photos live on screen as I make adjustments and corrections to them. Surfing the web on my TV is a lot easier this way as well. Not having a huge wire running along my floor from my computer to my TV just feels good.

From a simple perspective any Apple computer made in late 2009 or newer will run Mountain Lion. Many older 2007/2008 models are also able to run the new OS but will benefit greatly from a few upgrades. Feel free to contact the service department to make sure your system can run Mountain Lion to the best of it’s ability.
Mountain Lion minimum system requirements are:
– OS X v10.6.8 or later
– 2GB RAM
– 8GB of available Hard Drive space
Mountain Lion can be download through the Mac App Store for just $20. If you have purchased a new Mac Computer between June 11, 2012 and July 25, 2012 (or after July 26 if your Mac did not ship with v10.8) Please follow the link below to request your copy of Mountain Lion FREE!
