On the sales floor I find myself answering many questions along the lines of “How do I play/open (specific type) of movie files.” Sometimes when someone gets a new video camera they may find that they have a new kind of video format with the files they want to play on the Mac.
I have found the VLC Media Player App to be the best and easiest way to get around spending extra time and energy and money installing unneeded programs just to play a unique file type. VLC is always updating it’s software to provide the best control for opening and playing almost any movie format users could come across.
